“The Forum reiterates its commitment to the politics of equity, fairness, and unanimously agreed that the presidency of Nigeria is rotated between southern and northern Nigeria and resolved that the next president of Nigeria should emerge from the south,” Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo state governor, stated on behalf of the Southern Governors Forum (SGF).
On issues dwelling on the recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill at the NASS, the governors emphatically rejected the proposed 3% share of the oil revenue to the host communities and clamored for the 5% proposed by the lower House of Assembly. They also rejected the proposed 30% share of profit for the exploration of oil and gas in what is now termed the front-line basins.
