The president of Haiti, Jovenel Moise, was shot and killed in his home, the interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph announced Wednesday morning. The attack occurred around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the early morning. The first lady also sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

According to a reliable source, the assassination was stated to have been carried out by a commando group with suggested “foreign elements,” according to the interim Prime Minister Joseph.
