Security across the entirety of Nigeria has been deteriorating in recent months. The recent being four attacks that claimed the lives of about twenty-seven soldiers and ten members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). An increase in kidnapping and random killings has also been witnessed.
There seems to be a festering of tension sparked by lopsided federal government appointments by President General Muhammadu Buhari in favor of his kinsmen from the North. Fulani herdsmen killings in the South of the country has pitted locals against migrant Nigerians from the North of the country irrespective of their religious leaning or criminal profile.
Observants have cautioned the government to wake up to its duties or a carnage worse than that obtained in Rwanda during the genocide will pale in comparison with what will happen in Nigeria.
