Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov on Monday 25/4/22, accused NATO of engaging in a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine. He further noted that a threat of a nuclear war should not be underestimated. He warned, there’s a possibility of nuclear war in Ukraine.

Speaking on the possibility of a third world war, Sergei Lavrov, in an interview noted that Russia was doing everything it could to avoid a nuclear war in Ukraine, but those risks are now highly possible and dangerous.  However, the Foreign Minister added that, “He was opposed to elevating those risks artificially but warned that the danger was serious and real and should not be underestimated”.

Sergei Lavrov has denounced the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, while also accusing NATO of engaging in a proxy  war with Russia. He further stated Russia will consider weapons supplied by Western Countries as legitimate target. In order to butress this point, he noted that Russian forces have targeted weapons warehouses in western Ukraine believed to house supplies from foreign power.

According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba .“Russia loses last hope to scare the world off supporting Ukraine. Thus, the talk of a ‘real’ danger of WWIII. This only means Moscow senses defeat in Ukraine. Therefore, the world must double down on supporting Ukraine so that we prevail and safeguard European and global security”. He added.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on his visit to Kyiv on Monday 25/4/22 highlighted the U.S. government’s goals in the Ukraine conflict, stating “Washington wants Ukraine to remain a sovereign, democratic nation and has everything it needs to win the fight. We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.

Sergei Lavrov deducted from Lloyd Austin statement of “goals Washington wants from Ukraine” by stating that, “Russia has a feeling that the West wants to prolong Ukraine’s fight and, in the process, wear out Russia’s army and its military-industrial complex. But he warned, “this is an illusion.”
