12 Nigerian soldiers killed by bandit buried in Benue State.

The Nigerian soldiers killed by militia in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State were buried by the Nigerian army on Monday, April 12th, 2021. The soldiers comprising of one Yoruba officer, late Captain Adeolu Adedayo and 11 other foot soldiers were on a recognisance/stabilisation mission in the troubled regions of Benue State Nigeria. 

The soldiers before meeting their demise were on a “stabilisation mission” in Benue State, Nigeria before they were killed by non-state actors popularly coined as bandits. The soldiers were initially declared missing by the army before the search and rescue mission, Operation Whirl Stroke deployed to find them found all of them murdered in Konshisha Local Government Area of the Benue State in North Central of Nigeria. This region has recently witnessed an increase in arm conflict between Fulani herdsmen and local farmers. Land dispute has also been a thing of contention in the area.

Family members, colleagues, and senior officers of the 72 battalion Makurdi led by the Commander, 4 Special Forces Doma, Brigadier General L.G Lepbung and the Commander Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Adeyemi Yekini attended the burial ceremony at the military cemetery in Wurukum, Makurdi to bid farewell to the fallen heroes.
